BENEFITS OF TERMICOAT® FOR BUILDERS
Full slab penetrations treatment
You no longer need to wait for the installation of collars before pouring your slab when using Termicoat®. Termicoat® slab penetrations are incorporated during the perimeter application once the frame is erected.
Perimeter treatment to frame & rebate
Enhanced management is achieved through the application of a Termicoat® treatment to both the frame and the slab rebate. This treatment covers the slab edge, the bottom plate, and extends 300mm upward along each stud around the entire perimeter of the house.
Your builders keep working while they spray
You don’t have to relocate workers off-site during the application of Termicoat®. Don’t waste time and ensure your trades keep working!
Regulatory Update for Builders (and Bricklayers / Carpenters/Concreters / Plumbers)
TAG has become aware that termiticide sheeting products and termiticide service collars you may all use for mandatory termite management systems are now facing scrutiny from State Government Health Departments where those systems are being installed by unlicensed entities, e.g bricklayers carpenters and concreters.
IMPORTANT
It is a nationwide requirement under various State Government Health Acts that ONLY LICENSED Pest Controllers touch/handle pesticide-related products and termiticide-impregnated plastic sheeting systems and service penetration collars fall into this category.
If as a builder, you have been allowing your bricklayer ( or other trade) to install the final step of pulling the sheet across from the frame to the brick courses, or allowing concreters/plumbers to install termiticide-impregnated collars around PVC plumbing rather than calling your licensed Pest Controller, you now risk enforcement action from your Health Department.
This enforcement is real and in Victoria, the Pesticides Safety Team issued a newsletter (20/12/2023) to all Pest Controllers that should a builder be found on site allowing such a practice to continue then the builder faces 300 Penalty Units, (currently $57,683.00 ) and the individual doing the installation, (e.g. brickie) faces 120 Penalty Units, (currently $23,077.20 ).
Please DO NOT allow your unlicensed trades to touch/install termiticide sheeting, call your licensed Pest Controller.
TAG understands this change of building practice may impact your costs structures and to this end, we are proud to announce TAG has organised an NCC- CodeMarked certified alternative termite management system available to all members that removes the issues associated with the unauthorised installation of termite management systems.
We believe this alternative system may reduce your building costs and streamline your building process.
