The perfect solution for replacement windows The Inline Reveal by ‘EcoEco’
The window height, “A” is identical in each window. The first window looks identical when viewed from outside in a finished new home designed for offset reveal windows. But the 40mm-50mm offset reveals (making this window 40mm-50mm taller, wider)require a bigger frame opening, and they don’t allow the window to be set forward into the brickwork. The window depth, “B” is also identical.
The offset reveal is less flexible in its use when compared to the inline reveal, and less energy efficient due to the amount of exposed aluminium inside the home, but its greatest weakness is in replacement windows.
In replacement windows, the offset reveal will really only work in replacing offset reveal windows, if we try to replace a timber window or an inline reveal window with an offset reveal there will be a gap around the window on the outside, which apart from reducing the energy efficiency even more, will need to be covered by infills and coverplates connesting the window to the brickwork or weatherboard. Not to mention the gap which is behind the coverplate. How ugly can it get?
